Holiday house description Location: the Holiday house is situated on the outskirts of Reggello, only 25 Km south east of Florence, very close to most of the beautiful towns of Tuscany. At 350 meters above sea-level, it is set in unspoilt countryside with splendid landscapes, inside an important land estate, rich in olive groves and century old cypresses.
The farmhouse was built in the nineteenth century according to the enlightened rules of Grand Duke Peter Leopold of Lorraine. Recently restored, the building has totally preserved its original characteristics: brick floors, stone pillars, stairs and thresholds; beamed ceilings, brick archways and vaulted loggias.
Everything has remained authentic, to keep the original atmosphere. A long breathtaking cypress drive leads you to the farmhouse.
It is an ideal dwelling to spend a relaxing holiday in the splendid tuscan countryside full of castles and small old churches.
AccommodationThe Holiday house is divided in three large and comfortable apartments, each housing up to 6 guests.Each apartment is composed of independent entrance,
large living room with stone fireplace master, bedroom, twin bedded bedroom, fully equipped fitted kitchen with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, oven,
large bathroom with shower, private furnished garden, satellite TV and independent heating for the winter months.There are also for all the guests to share a small swimming pool in the garden and two large and comfortable living rooms to relax in front of the original brick and stone fireplaces admiring the enchanting hilly tuscan landscape.
It is possible to rent the whole structure for small meetings or parties.Available for clients:

Colombaia apartament In this first floor apartment there is a large living room with stone and brick fireplace, a built-in cooking area in tuscan terracotta and precious handmade majolica tiles. Thera are a comfortable and cosy king size bedroom with an original dressing room inside a niche left by an old arch and a second bedroom with 2/3 beds. A large bathroom with shower. The most striking room is upstairs with beamed ceiling and archway window from where you have a stunning view of the Arno valley.
In older times this room was used as a dovecote, hence the name.
Archi apartament In this first floor apartment, windows and doors are set in terracotta archways. Through a peculiar opening in the living room wall you can glimpse the cosy kitchen and its small old stone fireplace and old brick bench. The two bedrooms are large: one has a king size bed, the other one can accommodate up to three people in single beds. The bathroom is peculiar with its two original round windows dating back to the nineteenth century still charming the room.
Stalla apartment This striking apartment is on the ground floor and its large living room was once used to stable the cows: there are still the fascinating flagstone floor and walls, vaulted brick ceiling and big stone fireplace. The living room with an additional sofa bed.
Everything is as it used to be in the old times, unchanged and authentic. There are two snug bedrooms (one with king size bed, the other one with twin beds).
The bathroom is large and elegant, with shower and two basins.
EstateOn the estate, belonging to the family since generations, various kinds of valuable olive trees are grown. The “extra virgin” oil they issue is excellent and unadulterated, a very tasty dressing for any healthy food in your diet.The olives are hand picked and immediately grounded, after an attentive selection.
The estate produced wine and olive oil are for sale. EnvironsReggello, next to Florence and to the most important cities in Tuscany, boasts many interesting abbeys, country churches and monasteries. Very close to the farmhouse you can visit wonderful examples of Romanesque art, such as the parish church at Pitiana with works of Ghirlandaio, the parish church of Cascia with the triptych “San Giovenale” by Masaccio or the church of St. Agatha;
at a very short distance the thousand year old complex of the benedictine Abbey at Vallombrosa.
After a short drive you can reach the shopping outlet “The Mall” where you can buy designer clothes and accessories by Gucci, Ferragamo, Armani, Valentino, Pucci and many others at bargain prices.Even in full summer, the cool climate of this area allows you to have long walks or bike rides along secluded pathways and in oak woods, where you can sight pheasants, hares and deer. A cattle herd grazes in the estate fields.It is also possible to have horse rides, as you can hire a horse in one of the several nearby riding schools. In the estate there is a rare and spectacular limestone formation, dominating the valley, called “I Calanchi di Corchi”.Staying at the farmhouse you can recreate and experience the suggestive atmosphere described by Virgil in the II book of The Georgics, praising country life: “At secura quies et nescia fallere vita, dives opum variarum, at latis otia fundis, speluncae vivique lacus et frigida Tempe mugitusque boum mollesque sub arbore somni non absunt”. |
