The farmhouse in Sovicille offers self catering holiday apartments for rent in Tuscany.
The accommodation was converted from a 15th century property located in the National Park of la Montagnola Senese and the secluded hilltop setting near Siena offers stunning views over the Tuscan countryside, whilst still being close to beautiful historic towns such as Florence and San Gimignano as well as the Chianti wine region.
In addition to the culture and architecture that Florence and Tuscany offer, you can also spend a leisurely hour or two sipping a glass of Italian Prosecco in one of the many bars in Siena or San Gimignano or simply read by the simming pool. Situated near Sovicille, the nearest shops, church and bank are at Rosia, 8kms away from the property and there is a 9 hole golf course only 15 miles away. The farmhouse in Sovicille is 20kms west of Siena and within easy reach of San Gimignano and Monteriggioni whilst Florence is only 45 minutes away by car. This site contains plenty of information on things to do for children, information on all the cultural aspects of Florence and Siena and information on the Chianti wine region. You can also see a gallery of photographs taken at the farmhouse and you can book your holiday direct with the owner. The property is dated approx 1200 dc and was a Convent with nuns of the order of S.Prospero till 1504 when the Tolomei family bought it and converted into a farm house. The owner bought the farm 15 years ago and converted into a farm house.
However it is the present owners Silvio and Joy who reside on the property, that are responsible for the sympathetic renovation of the buildings, retaining many of the original features such as beamed ceilings and terracotta floors wherever possible.The property of 100 acres is set in the National Park of la Montagnola Senese with breathtaking panoramic views, ideal for tranquillity and walks, horse riding in the vicinity, mountain bikes can be hired nearby. The owner bought the derilict farm 16 years ago and converted into the present charming holiday Residence.

Accommodation

The farmhouse in Sovicille offers a wide range of accomodation varying from self-contained studio apartments to a two bedroom detached villa. The beautiful location provides stunning views of the Tuscan countryside from the whole property, particularly from the terrace (shared barbeque provided) and swimming pool area.The pool is 12x6 metres and is 1.5 metres deep. Towels and linen are changed weekly. A locally payable returnable breakage deposit of 100 Euro is required. Heating is available on request at an additional charge payable locally.Apartments are either one or two bedrooms - for full details and photographs (available soon for all apartments) choose from one of the options one the menu.

Fico, Grappolo and Bella Vista apartments

Apartment Fico, Grappolo, Bella Vista (Sleep 2+2): located on the first floor of the main building. These one bedroom apartments all have a double bedroom, bathroom with shower & w.c. and living / dining area with kitchen facilities. The living area has a double convertible sofa bed and the kitchen area has a fridge and two ring hob. These apartments are all reached by stairs (apartment 2 staircase shared with the Caminetto).

Cipresso, Le Volte apartment and La Casina cottage

Apartment Cipresso, Le Volte (Sleep 2+2): these one bedroom apartments, located on the ground floor of the main building have a double bedroom, bathroom with shower & W.C. and living / dining area with kitchen facilities. The living area has a sofa bed and the kitchen area has a fridge and two-ring hob. These apartments have shared entrances. Note: In apartment 6 the bathroom can only be reached by going through the main bedroom. La Casina Studio / Cottage Apartment (Sleeps 2): the ground floor has a living room with kitchen area with a two-ring hob and fridge. The bathroom has a shower& W.C. An iron staircase leads to a small double bedroom.

Porcilaia cottage and Caminetto apartment

Porcilaia (Sleeps 5): this beautiful detached Cottage is next to the panoramic swimming pool and enjoy its own private area outside with table and chairs, surrounded by olive trees, roses, lavender and Rosemarie.
Contains; 1 double bedroom with sink, 2nd bedroom with 3 single beds, bathroom with shower box, bidet and sink, dining area, kitchen with oven, 4 gas rings, fridge/freezer, toaster, living room with a large arch, divan and two armchairs, fire place, Electric kettle.
Caminetto sleep 4+1 - Confortable and large apartment situated on the first floor of farmhouse with very large living room, big fire place, 2 bathrooms with shower boxes each and bidet, one ensuite, one double bedroom and one smaller with two single beds, oven, fridge/freezer, Toaster, divan with two armchairs, folding bed, TV not sat. Electric kettle.

Lecceto apartment

Lecceto Sleep 3- Confortable and cosy apartment situated on the ground floor in a secluded corner of the old farmhouse building with private patio, own table and chairs outside and contains; one double bedroom, one small with a single bed; bathroom with shower box and sink, living/dining room with sofa/bed, TV not sat, Electric kettle Microwave oven, 2 ring hob and fridge.

Uliveto apartment

Uliveto Sleep 4+1 - Situated on the ground floor in the middle of the farmhouse, this cosy apartment has; a double bedroom, one smaller with two single beds, bathroom with shower box, sink and bidet, living room/kitchen, sofa/bed, two armchairs, TV not sat, Toaster, Microwave, Electric kettle and a wooden stove.

Food & Wine

The area surrounding the farmhouse in Sovicille encompasses a large number of villages within a few minutes driving distance. All of these boast a number of excellent trattoria offering good food and wine at extremely reasonable prices. In addition there are excellent pizzerias serving traditional Italian pizza which will be a pleasant discovery for those used to other worldwide variations. These local trattoria welcome children with open arms - local Italians always include children and babies when dining out.
For those special occasions there are also several excellent restaurants offering superb menus and varied wine cellars. It is a superb experience to dine al fresco watching the sunset over the Tuscan hills.Set in the heart of Tuscany, the farmhouse in Sovicille makes an ideal base for exploring some of the best wines that Italy has to offer.
The world famous vineyards of Montalcino and Montepulciano are approximately half an hour away, whilst the farmhouse in Chianti - the home of Chianti Classico is also about 20 minutes away.A visit to Tuscany would not be complete without a taste of the local wines, and the opportunities in this region are plentiful. Most of the local wine producers welcome visitors to the vineyards and historic locations such as San Gimignano posses many 'enoteca'. Many of these wine shops provide visitors with the ability to taste and compare a large selection of wines in a single location.
You may not wish to tour the wine region - even if this is the case all of the local restaurants and trattoria offer a good selection of the wines - ranging from the local Vino di Tavola to Brunello di Montalcino.
